About:

Christian Yom (b. 2005) is a Korean American composer and pianist who draws inspiration from a vast array of musical and extra-musical ideas, the most prominent being traditional Korean folk music. Studying under Dr. Paul Frucht, most recent recognitions include being named a 2023 YoungArts Finalist in Classical Music, a 2023 Morton Gould Young Composer Award, and a 2023 National Young Composers Challenge Ensemble winner. His works have been performed by renowned artists and venues - principal harpist of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra Emily Levin, the Orlando Philharmonic at Steinmetz Hall, at the New World Center in Miami by the NuDeco Ensemble, the National Arts Club. His most recent project is a commission to orchestrate “A Concerto for My Family” by grammy-winning bassist Ranaan Meyer for chamber orchestra.

He is continuing musical and academic pursuits at the Harvard/NEC B.A./M.M. program starting this fall.
